jaimespaceJaime Rojas Elgueta (1945)

Jaime joined the IMO coregroup in January 2008.

I share the observation, reflection and experience of colleagues at IMO concerning individual development which is essential for the development of organizations as communities. I consider IMO as a point of arrival and departure of my experience as consultant and manager.

I have worked as organizational development consultant in companies and institutions in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France, Chile and other Latin American countries. Presently, I am a consultant to the European Commission (EC), the Economic Commission for Latin America, the Italo-Latin American Institute (www.iila.org) and the Ministry of Foreign Affaire of France and Italy in the area of cooperation.

I was born in Chile and have lived in different countries of Latin America and Europe and presently reside between Geneva and Rome. I am married and have three children.

I graduated in Law and hold a Master in Urban and Regional Planning from the Universidad Catolica de Chile and a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales of Paris.

My professional life in the area of organizational development began in Milan in 1975. Around the same time I also started an extensive consulting project with the Barcelonan City Council and the Barcelonan Metropolitan Government. I was General Manager of an Italian consulting company during 3 years and Manager of an Italian company, leader in robotics and mechanics, and also President and main stock holder of a company active in the Central American tourism sector.

I also worked for the EC in different cooperation projects, among these as Director of the EC’s Coordination Office in Guatemala between 1995 and 1998. From 2001 until 2006, I was Director of the Socio-Economic Affairs Secretariat at the Italo-Latin American Institute, and have also been a consultant to the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Inter-American Development Bank.

I taught as professor in different master programs in Europe and, more recently, at a private university in Rome which is linked to the Italian Entrepreneurs’ Association, at the Master and Ph.D. programme on horizontal leadership in Latin America.
